The Upper Midwest Training Conference in Population Studies is a cutting-edge two and a half day graduate training workshop in new advances to traditional demographic methods. Graduate students will be trained by top demographers in the latest advances to core demographic methods in life tables, age-period-cohort models, networking models, and simulation techniques.
Dr. Herbert Smith, University of Pennsylvania, is the keynote speaker for this event.
Dr. Scott Lynch, Princeton University, is presenting advances in life tables and simulation techniques.
Dr. Yang Yang, University of Chicago, is presenting her work on advancing age-period-cohort models.
Dr. Steven Goodreau, University of Washington, is presenting the latest trends in network modeling.
The training workshop is scheduled for January 13-15, 2010 at the Minnesota Population Center, University of Minnesota.
The workshop will be held from 8:00am to 5:00pm on January 13 and 14.
The workshop will be held from 8:00am to noon on January 15.
Keynote address is at 5:00pm on January 14, reception to follow.
